As a Black mother raising a young Black boy, I got chills watching this film. Although my son is just a toddler, I wonder about the world we're living in and how I can teach him to be "white boy free" but mindful of the challenges he'll undoubtedly face as a Black Man in America. Like the other parents in this film, my husband and I don't have all the answers, but Dayvee Sutton's work is certainly raising some of the right questions that we have to ask ourselves as parents...as a nation. -Kristal High Taylor, Editor in Chief, Politic365
While Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland and others have lost their lives to racism's war on black bodies, the collateral damage to the African American soul and psyche hasn't been fully explored. What we Told Our Sons, is a sad, but moving and necessary glimpse into how, in the face of America coming to grip with endemic violence and racism, everyday black families are forced to cope. -Jason Johnson, Prof. of Poli. Sci. & Political Analyst for NBC News & SIRIUS Satellite Radio
An important conversation on the social structure that supports racism, both hidden and obvious, affirmed and denied. -Perry Goodfriend, Prose and Thorn
This doc was "AWESOME!!" It drives home the point that until white parents are forced to have "the talk" then we are not equal. - Jorae Williams

Powerful and moving from the personal stories to inclusion of systemic racism in America. - Emily Herman
